Wednesday 18th September 2019 2pm. The Old Medicine House, Blackden, Holmes Chapel, Cheshire CW4 8BY. Home to the Blackden Trust, founded by Alan and Griselda Garner, this is a refurbished three bay timber-frame building probably built in the early 16th century. Alan Garner wrote The Weirdstone of Brisingamen and other children's fantasy novels set in and around Alderley Edge.
We have arranged a guided tour (approx. 2 hours) which includes a talk about, and viewing of, some of the amazing archaeological finds from this very special site. The finds date from the Mesolithic to the Bronze Age, Roman, Medieval and Early Modern periods. The Trust’s Archaeologist Dr. Tim Campbell-Green is expected to be available on that date. The tour costs £10 pe person and includes tea and cakes served in the garden. Please note that the Trust does not take cards and all payments must be by cash.
